After 26 years sinse opening of the first cellular networks, the number of people using mobile phones almost reached 3.3 billion people.
“In the mobile industry, the real figures have always exceeded analysts’ forecasts regarding the growth of subscriber base of mobile operators. For the nowadays generation of children it is not a question whether they will receive a mobile phone, the question before them is - when they get a mobile phone, “said Mark Newman, the main researcher of Informa Telecoms & Media.
As for the end of September mobile networks were deployed in 224 countries. To compare in 1997 they have been deployed in 192 countries, and in 1987 just in 35 countries. According to Informa by the middle of 2007, 90% of the world’s population was targeted by the various mobile networks.
