In early 2008, the company will issue technical standards for the developers. Verizon Wireless Network will support all applications, services and phones, which will meet these standards. All devices will be tested in special laboratories, which costed the Verizon Wireless $ 20 million.

“Verizon Wireless does not change its successful retail business model, but adds an opportunity for buyers to choose services and phones,” said Lowell McAdam, President and CEO of Verizon Wireless.

Now Verizon Wireless subscriber base has more than 63.7 million people. The number of employees exceeds 68 thousand.

It’s most likely that Verizon Wireless will start selling mobile phones without having to conclude a contract. Manufacturers of CDMA- phones will have an opportunity to install any OS and any applications in their gadgets. Now the overwhelming majority of Verizon Wireless devices supports only BREW program.
