Korean company Samsung Electronics has announced the release of their 8 Gb memory cards of microSD format (Secure Digital).
Nowaday microSD memory card is the most popular information carrying devise in the mobile industry. Because of their small size they are particularly in demand from manufacturers of mobile phones. According to the calculations of Samsung Electronics the 8 GB card can contain up to 2.000 musical compositions in MP3 format, 4.000 photos and approximately 5 films of DVD-quality. MicroSD-card is almost four times smaller SD cards.
Maximum data reading speed from 8 GB microSD memory cards from Samsung is 16 Mb/s and recording speed is 6 Mb/s.
According to the research firm Dataquest in the next four years the market of memory cards is expected to grow by about 10%. Samsung believes that by 2010 8 GB microSD memory cards will become the most popular information carriers in the mobile industry.
