Microsoft Corporation plans to sell 20 million copies of the operating system Windows Mobile for smart-phones and communicators in 2008. This is twice higher the number of Windows Mobile licenses granted to producers of mobile devices in 2007. Microsoft does not deny that it challenges Research In Motion and Symbian.

In an interview to Dow Jones Newswires a Senior Vice President of Microsoft Mobile Communications Pieter Knook said that in a new 2008 financial year which begins on July 1, Microsoft for the fourth time will double the number of copies of Windows Mobile. Knook added that competitors, like RIM and Symbian lack of any effort to capture the growing mobile market, thereby they are leaving the way for Windows Mobile.
Microsoft Corporation is also planning to increase the number of partners-producers of mobile devices. Now about 40 companies license OS from Microsoft, but software giant hopes to get into their customers Motorola and Samsung Electronics, which are in the list of five largest producers of mobile phones.
