Air France allows calls from mobile phones
From now everyone can make calls, send SMS and exchange mail on board of the Airbus A318…

Air France starts a six months test-program in July, during which passengers are allowed to make calls, exchange SMS and electronic mail.
The program will be carried only on one Airbus A318. It is one of the smallest aircrafts in the Park of Air France. They will install new equipment from OnAir, which minimizes the risk of interference of mobile networks in the avionics.
During the first three months of the test passengers will be allowed to use SMS and e-mail services. In the second half of the test passengers will be given an opportunity to speak during the flight. Cost of calls will range from $ 2.30 to $ 2.50.
The direction of Air France said that at the end of each flight passengers will be asked to fill out a questionnaire and say their response.
If during the semi-annual test-program there will be no not a single case of system break-down in the air, but most of the passengers would oppose talking on mobile phones, the company will not allowe to talk on the phone in the future, however SMS and e-mail would be allowed.
